Cutting hair with the moon.
Do you cut your hair by the light of the moon?
Have you heard of lunar calendar haircuts? Yep, cuts and trims can be done by using the lunar calendar.
Nooo….it isn’t simply an old wives tale that has lingered for decades; it does have strong merit.
Many women (and men) who experience thinning, limp, slow growing hair have experienced significant benefits from this method. There are even a few who choose to use this method to retard (slow the growth) their hair growth because their hair grows entirely too fast!
How it works:
The premise: if you wish to have faster growth, cut your hair when the Moon is increasing in light – so that is essentially between the New Moon and the Full Moon. Many people prefer to cut when the moon is full and tend not to deviate from their scheduled cuts. The result of either method is stronger hair that grows at a faster pace.
For those with hair that grows ridiculously fast (and gets super annoyed that their layers have grown out once again!) it may be worth it to try this method to delay those trips to Pierre over at your swanky salon of choice
…yes, I’m aware that he works magic with those shears and clippers.
Method: To retard, let’s find another word, shall we…
To stunt hair growth, it is recommended that you cut your hair when the moon is waning. This refers to the period after the full moon and before the new moon (specifically, a couple of days before the new moon). I’ve found that this is also a spectacular time to shave your legs and perform other hair removal tasks you fancy.
Though I’ve never bought any of his products, I do find his lunar calendar to be exceptional! It gives you specific cutting dates based on the results you’d like to achieve. Want to lengthen, thicken, strengthen, or do you simply wish to beautify?
The dates are all there, at the Morrocco method. I adore his calendar, so much so that I’m willing to risk it being misaligned (eh, it throws off the aesthetics, so what!) on the blog so that it is rendered readable. Take a peek:
